Poker Professional Go Commando for a Cause

Thuy Doan proprietor of the poker news blog called is on a life trial right now. Sheâ??s suffering cancer and the poker community extend their support to this young woman by going commando. Some of the known names in the poker world have gone bald in order to express their feeling of compassion to Thuy.

Thuy Doan is a professional poker player who plays poker while studying college. Her family came from Vietnam and just migrated to the States after the war. She has aspirations to become the beacon of her family to have a good life compared to what they have back in their home country. She just recently finished college but is now facing another challenge on her life and that would be battling cancer.

During March, she announced on PokerRead that she has cancer and post a blog entitled â??Yup, Iâ??m Gonna Go Bald.â? Many friends and colleagues have been touch by her condition and decided to help her anyway they can.

â??2025 was a year for me to become many things: college graduate, full-time poker player, California resident….Never did I expect to become a cancer fighter.â?

She also stated, â??The biopsy results came back â?¦ I have an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma in my upper calf.  The next step is to get a chest scan to see if the cancer has spread. After that is chemo to shrink the tumour, then surgery. If chemo doesnâ??t work then amputation is a disturbing possibility. Since my health insurance policy is based in Virginia, I will be going back there soon for treatment.â?

Months after graduating from undergrad, Thuy had a diagnosis of cancer on her upper left calf/knee. She has an in progress chemotherapy and some poker pros have demonstrated her that they are with her in these hard times. Full Tilt Pro Tom â??durrrrâ? Dwan and PokerStars pro Barry Greenstein have shaved their heads in support of Thuy. Her treatment started freshly and she still has not made any developments, but hopefully with some more time the tumour will be eliminated and she will be able to put these tough times behind her.
