you are an idiot 1classx. u can be under the gun on the preflop bet, but after the flop you are under the gun as the small blind, so when playing your hand after the flop, you are always in the worst position as the small blind.

It can be argued… The power of being in position is given by the people that spoke before you.

By making a bet out of position, you’re taking the control. Of course should a raise happen, you’ve lost the chips…

UTG refers to pre-flop position. SB is first to act post-flop, but during pre-flop he’s second to last to act (BB being last).

  6. stinky472 says:

badpanda84 is actually right in a sense. Fold equity can be higher out of position post-flop, and it can actually be advantageous with a mediocre hand since it gives you the opportunity to bet into your opponent. The opponent then has a tough choice: either he can call which requires a stronger hand or take an even bigger risk than you did and raise to try to put the pressure back on you. Being out of position with a strong hand though is typically undesirable.

lol. poor old phil gordon doesn’t even know the difference between the sb and utg. lolz

  8. 1classx says:

No, Under The Gun (UTG) is the seat directly to the left of the big blind. He is first to act after the 2 hole cards have been dealt but before the flop, and as such has the worst position in the first round of betting. That’s why it/he is said to be “under the gun,” it’s not a good place to be.

    You idiot.

Lol- expert advice… Check which position they say is called under the gun. Last time i played it was called small blind:P

  11. Josh08Lancer says:

    3rd, 4th and 5th street, not 2nd 3rd and 4th.

  12. Josh08Lancer says:

first chance to bluff? Are you retarded?

  13. pberardi says:

Will the real gus hansen please stand up.

  14. lordbyng says:

paulio 2293: That’s not always true. Obviously on the BIg Blind you would go in if no one raises, and even if someone does, if everybody else has folded and both of you have decent chip stacks you should call. Don’t call monster raises, but with small raises you still have really good pot odds. From this perspective BB is really an innocent position where you can play anything given the proflop conditions, totally taking your opponents by surprise if you get a flop while holding weak cards.

  15. lordbyng says:

    To badpanda84:

By “sometime” you mean only when you intend to bluff without any betting info from your opponent. To do this you need to rely on other, more elusive info, like your opponent’s style or a read on him and that’s always risky.

  16. badpanda84 says:

Sometime though being first to act is actually better

The first to act means the first chance to bluff.

  17. CarlLewenski says:

Why don’t they make like a 10 minute video instead of having all of these little clips?
These short advertisment clips tell me that there most likely isn’t that much information in the video, so why would I buy it?

  18. doddinho says:

no its only better pre-flop beacause the dealer is last 2 act on 2nd,3rd and 4th street

  19. paulio2293 says:

yes on the first round the big blind is in position, they have a great chance to defend their blind and steal any calls by making a raise last, but they do this at great risk because their going to be out of position on later rounds. you cant steal from the big blind like you can on the button, on the big blind you only want to be going in with a premium hannd.

  20. YtseJammer69 says:

true, but if the big blind raises you, you are the last person to make a decision. Plus, for every consecutive round after that, you get to act last.

  21. PokaDeJoka says:

but the LAST to act is whoever is on the big blind, so its better then being on the D Button ?!?!?! am i wrong ??

  22. Cudlphish72 says:

under the gun after the flop is what he meant

  23. bookieko says:

isnt under the gun aka UTG the position after the big blind? someone correct me if i am wrong
