the second best hand is usually the one that costs you the most moeny… thats the point i believe..
there are times to bet medium strength hand and there are times to check them. If you’re first position, and you don’t know if your hand is the best, against an aggressive player, i would bet out to see if the other guy was drawing, and to prevent a big bet from behind(defender bet)if you’re in position you should only bet medium strength hand if the opponent is complete calling station and will call a bet with ace high. Even then it’s hard to say, because calling stations sometimes have hands

I’m sure they all know what they’re talking about, but at the end of the day I’m going to play the way I want. I don’t need Phil Gordon, or any other poker pro for that matter, telling me how to play. Weather I win or lose, it’s all on me!
And most of the pros. Go to the Full Tilt Learn From The Pros videos on here. They all say the same thing he just said.
The quote isn’t about instincts or poker books.
It’s about always making the right decisions even if you lose sometimes, you win in the long run.
For example going All in pre-flop with 7-2,
even if you won once doing that it was still a bad decision that will cost you long term.
It means sometimes you make the correct decision but still lose. For example not calling a reraise with 7-2, but a 722 board comes up
after you folded. You made the right decision
even though you would have won. You didn’t win but it was the correct play long term.

I don’t really get this. Let’s bet our weak hands and strong ones but fold our medium strength ones? It might be medium strength but it could still be the best hand.
I’m mean, this is just the opinion of Phil Gordan.
me!
i’m agree
but on the river nots the same
he is talking about on the river
Well played….instincts win again!
Who has the expert mind?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….
yeah thats true enough, thats a better way of wording it. i folded a k high flush last night as i noticed a manic slowed down, he had the A high flush. chuffed about that one
You means like ABC players
Betting with a medium-strength hand out of position on the flop is often great play though. The last thing you want to do is call with a medium strength hand.
yeah that guy’s quote is pointless
Thats a bad quote. Since making bad and good decisions objective is to win.
Thats pointless
Poker is murkier about strategy because a ton of details that are very hard to calculate jump in. Yes, these tips are useful, but when misunderstood or totally taken to heart word on word, that creates problems.
I see this kind of crap all the time, people betting on the end with second or third pair for value.
What I’m trying to say is that sometimes you have to put the books aside and trust your instincts in poker to make a decision.
and we try make the right choices because we want to win……… dont we?
Poker is not about winning or losing, it’s all about making the right decision, when to fold and etc. -Doyle Brunson
